Members.

Do you want to donate to zakat-eligible projects in need of financial support? Consider approaching BACG. Our annual zakat gifts are awarded at the end of each Ramadan to two organizations, currently ranging from $50,000 - $80,000 in total.

Process

Step 1

All new and returning members must fill out the following Membership Form for the 2022 giving cycle. The steering committee will contact accepted members.

Step 2

Members receive instructions to deposit $5,300 ($5,000 zakat contribution, $250 zakat-eligible AMF fee, $50 BACG fee*) to AMCF beginning three months before Ramadan (funds must be received by April 22nd at the latest). To deposit your funds click here.

Step 3

Members present potential zakat eligible organizations and/or specific zakat eligible projects at a pitch meeting held three months before Ramadan. AMCF can assist members with identifying potential organizations to present and conducting due diligence.

Step 4

Eligible members will vote to select two finalist organizations one week after the pitch meeting.

Step 5

Representatives from the two finalist organizations will present to the group during the first week of Ramadan. Eligible members will vote to select a first place recipient (70% of the total donation) and a runner-up organization (30% of the total donation).

Step 6

Funds will be distributed by AMCF on the 27th of Ramadan. AMCF will send out donation receipts to members.
*Website maintenance and final in-person meeting overhead. $250 fee waived for existing donor advised fund holders of AMCF.
